Entering Türkiye: a short, honest visa guide

Most of our guests need either nothing at all or a ten-minute online form. This page explains how it works, what to check before you book a flight, and the one website you should use.

Start here — check your own case

Visa rules depend on your nationality, your passport type and sometimes on visas or residence permits you already hold. They also change. We will not print a country list here that could be out of date by the time you read it — instead, check the official Turkish government portal, which answers for your exact passport in under a minute:

Official Republic of Türkiye e-Visa portal — evisa.gov.tr

Use only evisa.gov.tr. Many look-alike websites sell the same government e-Visa with a large service fee added, and some are not authorised at all. The official site is the only one we recommend. If a site asks for far more than the government fee, close it.

If the portal says your nationality is not eligible for an e-Visa, you apply at a Turkish embassy or consulate instead. That takes longer — start early.

How the e-Visa works

1
Apply online You fill in your passport details, choose your arrival date and pay by card. No visit, no appointment, no documents posted anywhere.
2
It arrives by e-mail Usually quickly, but do not leave it to the last day — payment checks can delay it.
3
Carry it with you Print it and keep a copy on your phone. Airlines ask for it at check-in, before you fly.
The e-Visa is tied to the passport number you type in. If you renew your passport after applying, the e-Visa does not move to the new one — check this before you travel.

Check before you book the flight

Our rule of thumb: sort the visa out as soon as your booking is confirmed, not in the last week. Nothing in a holiday goes wrong as expensively as a visa left late.

What we do — and what we don't

We do not sell visas and we are not a visa agency. Visa and e-Visa fees are paid directly to the government, and they are not included in our tour prices — you will see this written in the "what is not included" list of every programme we sell.

What we can do:

What we cannot do: apply on your behalf, promise an outcome, or advise on immigration matters. Those belong to the authorities and, where needed, to a licensed adviser.

Common questions

I hold a valid Schengen, UK, US or Irish visa. Does that help?
For some nationalities it changes which route applies. The official portal asks you this during the application and answers it for your passport — let it decide rather than relying on hearsay.
Can I get a visa at the airport on arrival?
Do not plan on it. Airlines check documents at departure, so a missing visa usually stops you before you reach Türkiye. Apply before you fly.
I am travelling with children.
Each traveller needs their own passport and, if required, their own visa — including infants.
My nationality is not on the e-Visa list.
Then it is a consulate application. Allow several weeks, and tell us early so we can keep your place.
Do I need travel insurance?
We strongly advise it and we do not sell it. Some consulates require proof of insurance as part of a visa application — check yours.

Still unsure? Write to us.

Tell us your nationality, the passport you will travel on and your dates. We will point you to the right official page and tell you if the timing worries us. We would rather move you to a later departure than watch you lose a flight.

This page explains process, not eligibility. Rules and fees are set by the Republic of Türkiye and can change without notice; the official portal always overrules anything written here.
