Frequently Asked Questions

These are the questions people actually send us, answered by the company that runs the tours rather than one that resells them.

What is included in the price?

For CAPIST — Stone and Strait (7 days / 6 nights):

Included

  • The Kayseri–Istanbul domestic flight, with baggage
  • A private vehicle with driver throughout, including both airport transfers
  • A licensed English-speaking guide for all seven days
  • Every museum, palace and site entrance on the programme — including the Dark Church at Göreme, which is ticketed separately from the museum. Nothing is paid at a gate.
  • The Bosphorus cruise on day six if the weather allows, refunded in full if the sailing is cancelled
  • All road, parking and vehicle costs
  • TÜRSAB mandatory travel insurance and local taxes

Not included

  • International flights
  • Visa or e-Visa fees
  • Meals not marked for that day, and drinks with meals
  • The single room supplement
  • Personal spending, laundry and telephone
  • Tips for the driver and guide
  • Anything shown as optional

Optional

  • The Cappadocia balloon flight before dawn
  • A Turkish bath
  • Extra nights at either end

Are international flights included?

No. Our prices are land packages: they begin when we meet you at the airport in Türkiye and end when we drop you off.

On CAPIST the domestic Kayseri–Istanbul flight is included, with baggage. You do not book that leg yourself, and you do not sit out a connection in Istanbul on arrival either — you land in Cappadocia directly.

We can issue your international tickets alongside the tour if you would rather see one total than two. Tell us the city you are flying from.

Do I need a visa for Türkiye?

Your passport decides this, not where you live. This is the single most common misunderstanding we see.

Citizens of the six Gulf Cooperation Council states may enter visa-free for stays of up to 90 days. For a number of other nationalities — among them India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Philippines — the Turkish e-Visa is conditional: it is issued only to applicants who also hold a valid Schengen, United States, United Kingdom or Ireland visa or residence permit.

Two consequences, because they catch people out:

  • A Gulf residence permit does not satisfy this condition. An Indian passport holder living in Riyadh or Kuwait City is not eligible on the strength of that residence alone.
  • A United States visa does satisfy it. A Canadian visa does not.

If you do not meet the condition, the route is a sticker visa from a Turkish consulate rather than the online application, and that takes weeks rather than minutes.

We are a tour operator, not a visa agency. We will tell you which route applies to your passport. We do not prepare applications, review documents or advise on appointments. Check your own case on the official sources before you book anything: evisa.gov.tr and mfa.gov.tr.

What happens to my money if the balloon flight is cancelled?

Balloon flights over Cappadocia are approved morning by morning by the civil aviation authority and cancelled when the wind is wrong. This happens, and no operator can honestly promise otherwise.

Our policy is written into the programme rather than improvised on the day: payment is taken only once the flight is confirmed, and a cancelled flight is refunded in full.

The flight is optional and booked on the ground, so a cancellation does not disturb the rest of your week — day two continues as scheduled.

Is the Museum Pass Türkiye worth it?

On our Cappadocia route the pass costs roughly $185 and covers roughly $190 of the entrances we actually visit. That is close to break-even rather than a clear saving — and on our tours you do not need it at all, because every entrance on the programme is already included.

What it does not cover matters more than what it does. Göreme, Derinkuyu, Kaymaklı, Ihlara, Zelve–Paşabağlar and the Dark Church are inside the pass, and so is Topkapı Palace. The Basilica Cistern, Dolmabahçe and Chora are not — they are ticketed outside the ministry’s system — and the paid Hagia Sophia gallery is separate again. If you are extending your stay in Istanbul on your own, check each building against the current list before you count on the pass.

What is closed on which day in Istanbul?

Istanbul’s palaces and museums each close one day a week, and they do not all close on the same day. Confirmed:

  • Topkapı Palace — Tuesday
  • Monday — Dolmabahçe, Beylerbeyi, Küçüksu, Ihlamur, Beykoz Mecidiye, and the Museum of Painting and Sculpture

This is why our programmes are written around a fixed departure day. CAPIST runs Monday to Sunday; on a different start date we swap the order of days five and six. The content of the week does not change — only the sequence.

What is the minimum group size?

Our scheduled departures are confirmed at a minimum of four travellers. On some dates that number is higher, and where it is, we tell you at the point of registration rather than afterwards.

Groups never exceed twelve on CAPIST. The Queen of Cities also runs as a small group of four to twelve.

Below four, the vehicle and the guide cost no less, so a smaller party is quoted separately as a private departure rather than carried at the published rate.

Is there a single room supplement?

Yes, and it is not included in the headline price. All our rates are per person, two sharing.

  • CAPIST — Stone and Strait: from $150, depending on the departure
  • The Queen of Cities: from $80, depending on the season

The exact figure for your week is confirmed when you register.

One exception worth knowing: the women-only Sacred Echoes departure of 6–13 March 2027 carries no single supplement at all — a room of your own costs the same as sharing.

Do you have a child price?

Yes, and it is the same on every programme.

  • Under 3 — free
  • 3 to 8 — 50% of the adult rate
  • 9 to 11 — 75%
  • 12 and over — full adult rate

The age that counts is the child’s age on the first day of the tour. Children share their parents’ room; where a third bed or a separate room is needed we tell you the difference before you commit.
